In just four years, the “Nextbike” public bicycle system in Croatia has launched in 12 cities.

This year, the public bike system will continue to expand throughout Croatia - and by July 2017, two new towns will introduce Nextbike to their citizens, reports HRTurizam.hr on June 4, 2017.

Thus, the center of the Neretva Valley has now joined the network of Nextbike cities - the people of Metković and their tourists can now enjoy the most affordable and healthiest form of public transport!

“I use this kind of system actively in Germany, and I'm glad it finally came to our city. The Neretva Valley and our environment deserves it. A sightseeing tour, the Narona Museum, a ride along the Neretva River and just that sense of freedom when riding a bicycle is something that gives our guests a much more beautiful and direct experience of our region. And for our citizens it is even better because it helps with traffic problems, noise and crowding, and of course environmental protection,” said Hrvoje Batinović.

The popular Nextbike form of transport is now available in 13 Croatian cities and municipalities including Zagreb, Karlovac, Gospić, Brinje, Slavonski Brod, Ivanić Grad, Velika Gorica, Sisak, Zadar, Šibenik, Makarska, Metković and Lastovo.

The Nextbike public bicycle system in Croatia now has 20,000 registered users who have recognized it as the smartest form of city transport. Nextbike significantly reduces harmful gas emissions, noise, traffic jams and parking problems and cycling positively affects the psychophysical health of all participants - ask anyone who rides a bicycle!

The Nextbike project is fully in line with the EU directives, vision, and plans of the city administration related to sustainable development.
