Cyclo-tourists use an above-average amounts of local trade and catering offers

The Tourism Ministry has published a decision to co-finance 24 development projects with one or more rest areas or lookouts on cyclo-tourism routes in the total amount of 3,674.200 kuna. In counties along the coast there will be nine projects, the remaining fifteen in the continent.

“By co-financing the formation of 66 cycling rest areas and lookouts, the Tourism Ministry is supporting further development of cyclo-tourism in Croatia in an attempt to become a quality and recognisable cycling destination. Europe currently has 60 million active cyclists and 20 million cyclo-tourists who generate at least one overnight. The noted cyclo-tourists are important as in chosen destinations they use an above-average amounts of local trade and catering offers, and during their stay spend up to 30% more than classic tourists.”
