As part of the celebratory program for the Day of Virovitica-Podravina, the second Pannonian-Bilogora MTB marathon will be held, reports Icv.hr on July 18, 2017.
The marathon, which will take place on September 10th beginning from Kapela Dvor, is organized by Virovitica-Podravina County, the County Tourist Board, Expedition Sports Club "Keks" from Virovitica, and the Europe Direct Information Center.
Unlike last year, this year's cycling marathon will boast two tracks. Namely, last year there was only one 72 kilometer track that could only be attended by participants with good condition. In order to enable the participation of a large number of cyclists, this year's event will also have a shorter, 35 kilometer track.
This marathon promotes cyclotourism as one of the relatively new tourist branches with an increasing demand.
“In continental Croatia, especially in the area of Virovitica-Podravina County, this type of tourism is given more and more attention. If you recall, three years ago in our county, there was a network of 535 kilometers of marked cycling trails. Experiencing the nature of the destination is better by bicycle, and that is exactly what we are seeking. In our area, we can make this experience with a series of activities, and one of them is a marathon of this ind,” said Deputy Director of the Tourist Board of Virovitica-Podravina County Josip Mikolčić.
