The fifth bicycle marathon “Oluja” will be held on August 2, 2017, to mark the 22nd anniversary of the eponymous military operation Oluja.
This year the route will run from Zagreb through Karlovac, Slunj, Gračac, Karin and Benkovac to Knin.
The race will take off on Wednesday August 2, exactly at 8 am from the west side of Ban Jelačić Square. The first day of the race will ride to Rakovice (about 130 km). The second day (August 3) will ride to Karin (about 135 km). The third day (August 4) morning is reserved for swimming in Karin, and in the afternoon the group will continue their journey towards Knin (about 80 km) where they will spend the night. On Saturday, August 5 in the afternoon, the group will attend the celebration for Victory Day and Day of Croatian Defenders. On the evening of August 5th, the group will take a night train that leaves at 23:46, arriving at the main railway station in Zagreb on Sunday at 5:47 in the morning.
Bicycle marathon “Oljua” will be driven without logistics and escorts, and no mobile service. The group will sleep in tents and eat and drink whatever the group brings. Participants are expected to be in good health and fitness and have an up-to-date bike to compete.
All participants must be of legal age.
The registration fee is 120 HRK which covers the transport of participants and bicycles by train from Knin to Zagreb, and insurance against accidents during the duration of the marathon. Participants who do not return to Zagreb will pay a registration fee of 20 HRK.
