As stated from the official website, European Mobility Week “provides the perfect opportunity to present sustainable mobility alternatives to local residents; and to explain the challenges that cities and towns are facing in order to induce behavioural change and make progress towards creating a more sustainable transport strategy for Europe.
Local authorities are strongly encouraged to use the Week to test new transport measures and get feedback from the public. It is also an excellent opportunity for local stakeholders to get together and discuss the different aspects of mobility and air quality, find innovative solutions to reduce car-use and thus emissions, and test new technologies or planning measures.”
With that said, many towns, cities, and counties across Europe find a way to support and promote this action. Take Zagreb County, for example.
On Saturday, September 16, 2017, Proglas out of Velika Gorica has organized their very own ride in honor of European Mobility Week, taking cyclists from Velika Gorica to Zagreb, and back, with the aim of using the bicycle to foster alternative mobility, sustainable development, environmental protection and a better quality of life.
The aim of the bike tour is also to historically connect Zagreb and Velika Gorica by the bicycle path.
