The Samobor Tourist Board, in cooperation with Samobor City and the MTB Clubs Šišmiš and Krpelj, began constructing and marking the cycling routes back in 2016, reports HRTurizam on June 7, 2017.
Today, seven bike routes have been created, covering about 150 km of trails, with the start and the goal at King Tomislav Square. The longest route is 30 km long and runs through Rude to Oštrc (following the same way back), and the shortest route is 10 km and leads towards Otruševac to Grgos cave and then back to Samobor. The routes have been created in response to the growing number of cycling tourists, as well as to promote cycling in the area while enabling visitors to familiarize themselves with the distant parts of Samobor.
The routes include easier and more straight roadways and demanding hills which include very attractive forest sections. The routes also take cyclists through the remote areas of Samobor such as Veliki Dol, Oštrc, Grgosova cave, Old Town of Okić, Nature Park Žumberak - Samoborsko gorje, as well as other natural attractions, all the way to the scaffolding in Medsava.
There will also be printed bicycle maps with height profiles and descriptions of the trails in Croatian and English, and also .kml and .gpx files of each route which can be downloaded from the official website of Samobor. Cyclists will also be able to download the routes via QR codes.
All tracks were constructed with the consent of the Croatian Mountaineering Company Japetić and GSS. In addition, the routes have been set up marked following traffic regulations and have been marked and designed to contribute to the development of cyclotourism in the Samobor area.
