Your chance to deer watch while cycling, the Deer & Bike event will be held on June 3, 2017, in the village of Draž in Baranja.
Here are the details:
Meet: 11:30, Market Stipe Đurina (Draž)
Duration: 12:00 - 19:00 (+ time for relaxing)
You can choose from one shorter (29.2 km) and one longer (48 km) cycling route
* 4-hours of cycling / 2-hours of resting
* 21 km on the road / 13 km gravel roads / 11 km dirt roads / 2 kilometers of wilderness - MTB bike recommended!
* The registration fee is 50 HRK
* The price includes tasting of local products, a ticket to the Šokačke house, and lunch
The first stage will ride down the street Braće Radića and Danube ulica to the embankment, passing near Dunavac (Old Danube) where you will then enter Šarkanj. You will ride along the flood levels and marshes of the Danube and turn back to climb the embankment. You will then ride to Vrblja and pass through a forest until you reach the Danube. You will ride along the Danube to Batina. You will then climb the monument of the Battle of Batina. Here you will break for 30 minutes and have coffee at Cafe Barrique.
The second stage is mountainous with several ascents and descents. You will ride down the road to Velika drumic and climb to "trešnja”. You will return the same way. From there, you will taste products from OPG Jurkovic. After the tasting, the cyclists who have chosen to ride the longer route will continue to the mountain Čibogata.
The third stage is flat and will continue to Gajicki and Topoljski to the village Topolje. You will tour the Šokačke home and ride along the Danube to see the church of St. Peter and Paul which was built in 1722 Eugen Savojski. Towards the end, you will stop at the cultural and tourist event Baranjski bećarac.
