The first Croatian cycling forum "Cyclotourism in Croatia" was held on April 28, 2017 at Hotel & Casa Sanfior Valamar in Rabac. The event was organized by Cycle Croatia, an agency for cycling excursions in Croatia and the region, reports HRTurizam on April 26, 2017.
The main objective of the forum was to present Croatia as a destination for cyclotourism, as well as to gather as many bidders from this sphere of tourism in one place and thus present to them the current development and potential of Croatia as a cycling destination.
A highlight of the event was that a number of German speaking journalists were in attendance who specialize in cycling and cyclotourism.
"So far, we have reported about 20 professional journalists and bloggers from Germany who will spend four days through Kvarner and Istria and be presented our bike destination, ie cyclotourism,” said director Sascha Wiese before the forum, who added that the main goal of the forum was to brand the whole region as a bike destination for the entire tourist product.
In addition to the pioneers of cyclotourism in Croatia, many travel guides, journalists based on trekking, E-or mountain biking, and bloggers from the German speaking areas were also a part of the forum. Apart from lectures and examples of good practice in cyclotourism development, the ultimate wish of the organizer was to make a comprehensive Croatian bike catalog.
"The catalog will be exposed in many professional fairs around the world in the future, which will enable us all to reach a common goal, which is to establish Croatia as bike destination in the world of cyclists. Our wish is to have as many people as we can sign up for the catalog because we can only achieve success through the joint collaboration of all partners and tourists,” concluded Wiese.
