The first annual cycling event from the series “South on two wheels,” which started on last Saturday in Medulin, saw 200 participants of all ages. Cyclists, mostly amateurs but with some professionals, gathered on the Medulin seafront to ride the 20 kilometre route, almost completely along the sea, Glas Istre reported on April 15, 2017.
The group of cyclists did a tour of the Medulin camp, then passed on the boardwalk below Medulin hotels, passing through Kažela camp to reach Marlera. After a circle tour of the peninsula, along fertile fields and vineyards and after two hours of pedalling, the participants returned to the starting point. The route was the same for the youngest participants as it was not demanding.
This is the third year of the “South on two wheels” event organised by tourism boards on southern Istria: Medulin, Pula, Fažana, Vodnjan, Ližnjan, Marčana and Barban. The first one was prepared by the Medulin board with the help of the KBBXS Adrenalina and Arenaturist company. As before, five more manifestations will be held in the pre- and post-season. On April 30 comes Fažana, then Vodnjan on May 20 and Šišan on June 17.
All who take part in all six events will receive a special t-shirt at the event in Pula and be able to participate in a large raffle with 3.000 kuna gift certificate as the main prize. Previous events saw a total of 500 cyclists.
