The new station is set on the coast opposite the bus station, which enables users who come to Šibenik with bus transfers to immediately resume their journey with city bikes. The new station is also nearby the Vrulje pier which is busy with ship traffic to Šibenik's islands. The new station is in line with the trend of linking different types of transport in intermodal points. The city of Šibenik will continue to develop the system of public bicycles through new stations next year, reports HRTurizam on March 15, 2017.
In 2015, Šibenik became the first town in Dalmatia to launch a system of public bicycles though an initiative by the city government (they received a subsidy fund for environmental protection and support from the Šibenik Tourist Board). The implementation of public bicycles complements public transport and significantly helps reduce traffic congestion, solves parking problems, contributes to environmental protection, and enhances the tourist offer as it positions Šibenik as a desirable destination for the cyclotourist. It also lengthens the tourist season and generally affects the improvement of the quality of life in the city.
