Route description:
This route uncovers a hidden part of the Šibenik Riviera offering an atmosphere of unspoiled nature between two busy roads, Boraja road and Adriatic touristic road. The space is between Donje Polje and Vrpolje, north of the Adriatic Road with a hill in the middle, a former army range until the Homeland War, now with spacious vineyards. On the northwest side are Jadrovac and Morinj Bay, and on the southeast side Vrpoljački Gaj. This heaven of peace, silence and nature begins as soon as you move away from the houses in Žaborić and except at one point it does not contain anything connected to asphalt or civilization. The Žaborić-Vrpoljački Gaj-Jadrtovac-Žaborić track, as can be concluded from the key points, is interesting, attractive and challenging. Along the way are ascent leading to attractive lookouts, differentiated from other tracks by the riding surface. Atypical for Dalmatia, the track is on dirt. The route also has educational components as it leads through fields and olive groves, with many dry walls and a stone quarry from where blocks were taken to build the St. Jacob cathedral in Šibenik. Nature is quite lovely and very well preserved considering the proximity of town, road and villages. Encounters with wild animals, such as wild boar, foxes and squirrels are quite common giving the route a special attraction as for cyclists who love photography, and there are many, it offers the feeling of an exotic photo safari.
