On Saturday, September 2nd at 10:00, the Bicycle Association of Slavonski Brod has organized the first cycling voyage dedicated to Croatia’s most famous lovebirds, Malena and Klepetan.
The stork couple, that has loved one another for nearly 15 years, lives on the roof of the house of Stjepan Vokić in Brodski Varoš. Twenty-four years ago, Malena broke her wing and could no longer fly south, and Stjepan Vokić, whose roof is nestled between Malena and Klepetan, cares for Malena while Klepetan makes the long journey by himself. Every year, Klepetan exceeds 14,000 kilometers to return to his Malena.
Cyclists will gather on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 10:00 at Korzo in Slavonski Brod. The route will take cyclists from Korzo to Brodski Varoš and finish in Poloj. The bicycle race will be of a recreational character, adapted to all ages and all types of cyclists.
Registration for the bicycle race will be 30 HRK, and since Stjepan Vokić pays out of pocket for most of the resources for the bird's nutrition, the money from the registration fee will be donated to him to help fund the well-being of Malena and Klepetan.
By paying the registration fee, a hot meal will be provided for participants.
Malena and Klepetan write a wonderful love story of Croatian genres each year, bringing us new sages of their love each time. Why not be a part of their story this year?
