Uvati Vitar will be evaluated for the ranking in the World Cup, and around 300 competitors are expected from Croatia and abroad. The main track will be about 103 kilometers long, reports Dalmatinski Portal on February 28, 2017.
The race was presented by Director of the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia Joško Stella.
“We are developing cycling tourism, we have made paths, we are educating people, and we began with the certification 'bed and bike'. So, this is only part of the project for the development of cycle tourism in our county and we as a tourist board give this our absolute support,” said Stella.
Chief Ranko Blazevic said he was pleased that Sutivan this year will accommodate cyclists.
“We are making great efforts for the development of cycling tourism in our municipality. This race is the crown of three years of work and the investment in cycling infrastructure. Thank you to the Tourist Board and the county, who helped in achieving this goal. We want Brač to be recognized as a biking destination in the world. We are on track.”
Tončica Tonšić, Director of the Tourist Board of Sutivan, said that three years ago they contemplated what they would do next to extend the tourist season in Sutivan.
“When we developed Sutivan as a 'bike friendly' destination, we did not think that we would host a World Cup race, especially because there are no hotels in the village and we were based only on private accommodation. I hope that all the competitors will be able to see the hidden beauty of Brač.”
The best Croatian mountain biker Filip Turk expressed his pleasure to again return to Brač.
“I really like Brač and I recommend it to everyone. The potential is huge and I hope that the organizers will succeed in all of their plans.”
