It is one of my favourite days of the year in Jelsa, a time when the whole community comes together on the main square, usually in bright sunshine, to raise charity for a good cause and relax at the end of another tourist season.
For tomorrow sees the beginning of October (not that you would know it with such glorious weather) and the annual Biciklijada, with young cyclists taking part in the traditional race around the nearby villages, while the younger island cyclists show off their skills on the main square. There will be music, a tombola, plenty to eat I am sure, as well as the chance to buy this year's Biciklijada t-shirt, which will be in sky blue this year (save an XXL for me).
They will be coming by bus from Hvar and Stari Grad, and the race itself starts promptly at 11:00. It is a REALLY nice time to be on the square, catching up with old friends and new. Are you ready for the sea of sky blue? See you there!
