After a year of joint efforts by the City of Zagreb, Tourism Board of Zagreb, Nature Park Medvednica and Cycling Club BK Opušteno, the first cycling path to connect the Sljeme peak of Medvednica mountain and city of Zagreb was officially opened on April 2, 2016. The opening was well publicised as the importance of such infrastructure for tourism and sports in Zagreb became apparent. Members of the cycling club decided to, with the help of current partners, organise the first recreational Enduro race on Medvednica on September 18, 2016.
