The International Sava River Basin Commission started a cyclo-tourism project in 2013 to promote touristic development along the river. The goals of the cycling tour are to promote that project and celebrate the River Sava Day on June 1st.
This year's celebration will include a cycling tour 850 kilometers long, from the source of the Sava at Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, where the caravan will begin on Thursday, May 26, pass through all four nations and arrive at the Sava delta in Belgrade on June 4.
The tour duration is nine days, with breaks and overnight stay in cities along the Sava, where events will be held in cooperation with local tourist boards, as stated in the invitation.
The caravan will cover between 65 to 110 kilometers daily, which is the length of the last leg from Zasavica to Belgrade.
The main group of cyclists will be composed of seven male and female cyclists from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia, covering the entire route, while other cyclists from local clubs, public personas and residents will join them on certain sections.
The main group will blog about their journey, share experiences and publish photos of scenery and towns along the river.
